The warm weather and relaxed schedules of summer give us a chance to be creative in worship. I’m trying something new for the kids this summer. We will have two children’s times. The first, at the beginning of the service, will introduce a project or craft related to the theme of the day. The kids will then have a space in the sanctuary to work on their project. At the end of the service the children will be given the opportunity to share what the made or what they learned. Kids do not have to share. And adults can join in the projects too!
We will have two sermon series. The first is on the sacraments and worship. June 18th we will look at the symbolism of baptism. June 25th we will have a special guest, Paul Vasile, to help us use music for worship. July 2nd and 9th we will focus on communion and its many layers of meaning.
Our second series is focused on creation. July 16th we will look at “Planet Earth” from a biblical and spiritual perspective. On July 23rd our focus will be “Humanity.” July 30th we look up at the “Sky.” On August 6th our theme is “Mountains.” And all this leads up to the Sunday after the Blueberry Festival, August 13th and a “Blessing of the Animals” service that the whole community is invited to attend!
Hope to see you Sunday,
